1. This Competition is open to all residents in the UK over 18 years of age, excluding employees of Procter & Gamble UK and the Independent News & Media Ltd, their affiliates or agents, the families of such employees and any other person connected to this Competition. You must be an amateur, non-professional photographer in order to enter this Competition.

2. To enter this Competition, you will need to take a photograph illustrating how you like to relax, unwind and 'Recharge Your Batteries' together with a brief explanation of when, where and why you have chosen the photograph you have submitted. Examples of how you "Recharge Your Batteries" might include; relaxing with a cup of tea, yoga, or going for a stroll. You will need to upload your photograph onto and entry is subject to registration of your details with "The Independent". The Independent's terms and conditions of website use and privacy policy will apply.

3. Image files will need to be less than 49MB and 300dpi with the setting at a fine jpeg. Photographs submitted must be taken on an actual camera - not a camera phone. Eligible submissions must represent an original creative photograph submitted by the entrant which does not violate or infringe the rights of any third party, including without limitation, copyright or trade mark rights. Should you include a person in your photograph entry, you'll need to ensure such person has granted you all necessary rights to use their image in this Competition and you must be able to make written copies of such permission available to the Promoter upon request. If the photograph includes an image of a person under the age of 16 years, you must obtain written permission from the child's parent or legal guardian authorising the use of the child's image.

4. Only one entry(image) per household. Any additional entries will not qualify and will be deleted.

5. Entry is free. No purchase necessary.

6. The closing date for receipt of entries is 8 August 2008 midnight.

7. The Promoter will not be liable for entries not received, incomplete, delayed or damaged. Proof of sending is not proof of delivery. The Promoter will not be liable for system failures, network errors, site being down, hacks on the system or personal computer issues. Photograph submissions that do not comply with these terms and conditions or these terms and conditions of The Independent or which otherwise contain prohibited, inappropriate, or irrelevant content as determined by the Promoter at its sole discretion, may be disqualified, removed from the website and not be considered for a prize.

8. Prizes will be awarded to the entrants who, in the opinion of the independent judges, submit unique, apt and original photograph.

9. The winner will receive Canon EOS 40D + EF-S 17-55mm IS Kit (RRP: £1,499.99), a day's photography experience with a Getty photographer and a days' photography experience with the Independent (either on shoot or at its picture desk). The prize must be taken by 31 December 2008 and will be subject to pre-booking availability. There will be 10 runners up prizes of a Canon PowerShot A590 IS Camera (RRP: £159.00 each) and a tour to the Hulton archive to be taken by 31 December 2008 subject to pre-booking availability.

10. The prizes are as stated and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged. There is no cash alternative. Only one entry per person and only one prize will be awarded per household. No bulk or third party entries accepted. If you are a winner you will be notified in writing by 6 September 2008. You will need to provide personal identification to the Promoter in order to claim your prize. You will need to allow 28 days for delivery of the prize.

11. A list of winners will be available on after 6 September 2008.

12. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Judges will be appointed by the Promoter.

13. By entering this Competition, entrants agree to be bound by the rules and by any other requirements set out in the promotional material.

14. The winners of the prizes may be required to participate in publicity and by entering this Competition entrants acknowledge that they may be used in publicity without further consent or payment.

15. The Promoter may use and publish any photograph submitted as part of this Competition, with or without the entrant's name, and by entering this Competition you agree to your entry being used by the Promoter at its discretion.

16. A total of 50 photographic entries will be published in an exhibition at the Getty Gallery in London between 29 September 2008 and 25 October 2008, including the main prize winner's entry, the 10 runners up entries and a further 39 top entries. If you're one of the 39 entrants which have not won a prize, you will be notified by email that your entry will be included in the Gallery Exhibition.

17. All entrants agree that their names, photograph and entry details may be used by the Promoter and Independent News & Media Ltd in an online Gallery on the Independent website without compensation at the Promoter's discretion until 31 December 2008. Entrants also agree that their names, photograph and entry details may be used by the Promoter and Independent News & Media Ltd in any media as examples of the type of photography people can take to enter this Competition. The main prize winner and the 10 runners up winners may also have their name, photograph and entry details published by the Promoter and Independent News & Media Ltd in an Independent Magazine special supplement in September 2008 at the Promoter's discretion.

18. Neither the Promoter nor Independent News & Media Ltd will be liable for any unauthorised third party use of the photography submitted by the entrant as part of this Competition.

19. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any prize for a prize of equal or greater value in the event of unavailability due to circumstances beyond their control.
