Competition Terms and Conditions

Terms and conditions on www.independent.co.uk/legal form a part of these terms and conditions.

The competition will run from 28 July 2008 to 30 November 2008

Entry to the competition is free. No purchase necessary.

The competition is open to individual residents of the UK aged 18 or over, except employees of Independent News and Media Limited (“INM”), Renault and their associated, affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their families, agents, or anyone connected with this competition, including the third-party promotional partners.


One winner will win a holiday for 4 in Kenya to be taken next year (between January and Dec 2009). The prize includes:

Getting there:

Four return World Traveller (economy) tickets from London Heathrow to Nairobi, Kenya. All other costs are the responsibility of the winner. Travel insurance is not included in the prize. Prize is valid for travel completed between January and December 2009 and must be taken outside school holidays and bank holidays. Prize travel must be booked by 2 months before travel. Tickets are non-changeable/non-refundable once booked. Cash or credit alternatives will not be offered. Prize is subject to availability and capacity control. BA reserves the right to limit the number of prize travel seats made available on any flight. It is possible that there will be no prize travel seats allocated on a particular service or the flight may be fully booked for prize travel seats, even though other seats are still available in the same cabin. Accomodation:

One night in Nairobi at the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel based on bed & breakfast and transfer from JKIA to hotel on night of arrival

Three nights at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club based on full board and transfers from Nanyuki airstrip

Two nights at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club based on full board and 2 game drives daily

Please note: black-out dates apply and is based on availability, valid between January and December 2009. Rooms are based on double occupancy. This must be used in its entirety and cannot be re-portioned. Non-transferable. Does not include service charges, alcohol, park fees, and incidentals.

Internal flights:

Four return flights from Nairobi Wilson to Nanyuki (Mount Kenya), from Nanyuki onto the Masai Mara before returning to Nairobi Wilson.

The winner will be announced at www.independent.co.uk/indydad and drawn as follows:-
Closing date: 30 November 2008 (midnight GMT).
Judging week commencing 1 December 2008.
Winner announced 8 December.

One entry per person.

The winner will be the entry that in the opinion of the editor and the judges is the best ‘alter ego’. The judges’ and the Editor’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. It is a condition of entry that INM and the promoters will be entitled to use and reproduce the entries for such purposes as they so choose without compensation.

If a winner cannot be contacted or is not available, INM reserves the right to draw another winner from the entries.

INM will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind, or lost or unavailable network connections that may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the competition.

Registration, completion and submission of an online competition entry form will be deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

INM reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, at its sole discretion, a competition is not able to be conducted as specified. INM reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value in the event that circumstances beyond its control make this unavoidable.

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Where you have indicated that you would like to receive information about travelling to Kenya, you agree that your relevant personal details will be held by Kenya Tourist Board and their partners - British Airways, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Kenya and SafariLink Aviation.
