Most temporary jobs in Paris will be given a contract called a Contrat de Travail Temporaire ou d’Interim (CDD), which can be renewed up to two times. These types of contracts do not usually include a trial period, unlike other countries such as Germany where the company may choose to terminate an employee’s contract after a certain amount of time. This is because the use of a fixed term contract must have an authorized reason stipulated by the French labor law. This includes contracts for replacement of an absent employee or contracts based on a temporary increase in the company’s business activity.
